A Brief History of Labadee, Haiti

Average Temperature in April:  87

Language: French & Créole

Columbus chose this secluded spot on the north coast of Haiti to take a break from his voyages to the New World.  These day's only Royal Caribbean ships can call here.  Some of the best scenery and beaches in the Caribbean are reserved exclusively for our guests.

You will be offered floats, paddle boats, sailboats, banana raft rides, swimming and snorkeling in turquoise waters.  Play volleyball, or explore ruins over 200 years old.  Shoppers will find authentic Haitian art for sale, and talented craftsmen who will demonstrate their skills.

Excursions Available In Labadee

SeaTrek Snorkeling On Amiga Island

3 hours, $30

An excellent combination of sightseeing and snorkeling, this tour is the perfect way to see Haiti at its unspoiled best. Board the spacious three level tour boat "Firedancer" directly from the ship. Enjoy a 45-minute coastal cruise as you follow the path of Christopher Columbus and learn about the history and legends of the area. Your dive staff will provide all the necessary snorkeling equipment, then conduct an equipment and area orientation before you disembark the "Firedancer." You will have over one hour to enjoy the myriad of coral formations, crystal clear water and white sandy beaches at Amiga Island. Your professional SeaTrek diving instructors will provide detailed instruction and a guided snorkeling tour for those guests trying it for the first time. Experienced snorkelers will enjoy exploring the nearby colorful reef with depths varying from 3 to 20 feet. Upon returning to Labadee, you will have plenty of time for snorkeling off the beaches at Labadee at no additional charge.

SeaTrek Snorkeling On Labadee

All Day, $21

Snorkeling offers a perfect opportunity to discover the underwater scenery at Labadee. If you've never been snorkeling before, we'll show you how. Even if you can't swim, you can safely float on the surface and enjoy the view below.

Here's your opportunity to learn to snorkel properly under the watchful eye of professional diving instructors. Our staff will guide you every step, with complete orientation on the use of the equipment, and guided tours of the best snorkeling areas. More experienced snorkelers can participate in our deep-water tours. Included in the tour price are mask, snorkel, fins, safety vest, and a certificate of participation.

Labadee Coastal Cruise

3 Hours, $20

Board the spacious excursion vessel "Firedancer" for a memorable narrated journey back in time along the historical north coast of Haiti. You will ply the same waters once paddled by Arawak Indians in dugout canoes. The scenic route will take you into the Bay of Acul, which Christopher Columbus visited on his first voyage to the New World. Along the way you will see Tortue Island in the distance, the birthplace of the Boucanier Pirates that once plundered these waters. Learn all about the rich history of this mystical land, and see how the Haitians still live as they did over two hundred years ago. On the return cruise you will be entertained with native Voodoo dancers performing local songs and dances. A delicious complimentary rum or fruit punch will served before returning to the ship.
